Build News Our Spring Build 2012 will be March 4 - 17. We need everyone's help and you can volunteer by calling 662-820-6922. A grateful thanks to all the folks from far and near that have helped us make decent housing available to more Leland families. We are especially thankful for the faithful support we have received from many local businesses, churches, civic groups and individuals this past year and look forward to working with you again in the coming year. Don't forget we still build every Saturday. If you as an individual or as a group want to volunteer, please contact us. We have jobs for everyone even if you don't want to, or can't, swing a hammer. Your support of Leland Habitat Donations from local churches and G-BABE, the Greater Bay Area Benevolent Endowment, started House 31. Now you can help us finish it! Thanks to Muffy and Andy Hammond of Apple Valley, Minnesota!! They gave a wonderful gift in memory of Andy's mother, Martha Hammond, which provided us with the opportunity to continue building houses in our community. Leland Habitat for Humanity has purchased additional property in the "New Town" community of Leland on Third and McGee Streets, and Collier Alley. There is enough property to build 12 new homes. We are planning for these homes now, and will build over the next several years. There were 13 shacks torn down (which recently had families living in them). The property has had plats made for each new house site. Click here for pictures. Leland Habitat needs your help in building these homes!! |
the progress on clearing the property and preparing house lots. From the corner of Dean Street, we are looking east down McGee Street toward Railroad Avenue |
