After obtaining suitable property for building of the

Habitat house, construction begins with assistance 

from volunteers, individuals as well as businesses,

and 500 hours of "sweat equity" by the homeowner.

The process of building a modest, 1050 squarefoot 

home is underway. Total construction costs are 

approximately $30,000 per house, the sale price 

of each home. Homeowners have a 20-year, 

no-interest mortgage payable to Leland 

Habitat for Humanity, Inc.

part in providing themselves with a decent,

affordable place to live, and one more family

in a home they can be proud of owning.
